Now that 2014 is here, a lot of people want to start the new year by improving their financial situation. Here are a few tools that can help you achieve that.

The first tools on the list help you with organization and budgeting.

Mint.com

Mint is a free service to track and view all your debts and incoming in one place. You can add your bank accounts, credit cards, loans, investments, and property to give you a full picture. There are lots of reports and trend graphs to see where your money is going. They have mobile apps for android and iOS. I’ve been using Mint for a little over a year and I love it.

your mobile devices to access your budget so you can enter transactions at the time of purchase. YNAB offers forums and online classes to help you with the software and with your budgeting.

betterment

Once you get your debt under control and get a plan to attack it. The next step is to start saving and betterment is one of the easiest and lowest cost places to save for the long-term. With betterment you just pick your asset allocation stocks vs bonds, and betterment will diversify your portfolio. They also rebalance your portfolio and re-invest your dividends automatically. Could you do this yourself? yes, but for the low fees and easy of use, many of us wouldn’t do it. So let betterment do it for you. I’ve setup a Roth IRA and have had good returns in the few months I’ve been investing.

I hope you enjoy these tools, do you know or recommend any I missed. What about your financial goals for 2014, what are you trying to do. Let us know in the comments below
